Diagnostic Medical Sonography
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares students for an entry-level position as a sonographer in various healthcare settings. The 27-month program focuses on the general concentration with an emphasis on abdominal and obstetrical/gynecological processes. The educational curriculum includes rigorous academic coursework, hands-on laboratory scanning, and exceptional clinical experiences.
Students enrolled in the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences Diagnostic Medical Sonography program are simultaneously enrolled with Alvernia University through a dual enrollment agreement. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from the School of Health Sciences and an Associates in Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from Alvernia University.

Looking for a career in Emergency Medical Services? Enroll in our program and train as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic.
Medical Imaging
Medical imaging professionals play a vital role in diagnosing and treating illness. Through a combination of clinical and classroom experiences, graduates who successfully complete our rigorous 27-month Medical Imaging Program are well-prepared for entry-level employment in this highly technological field of study. An affiliation agreement with Alvernia University allows students who enroll in our Medical Imaging Program to simultaneously enroll in the University’s Associate of Science in Medical Imaging Program.
Medical Laboratory Science
Since 1934, our program has prepared laboratory professionals to work in various laboratory settings including hospital labs, reference labs, physician office labs, and pharmaceutical labs.
As a Medical Laboratory Science professional, you will play a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Medical laboratory science professionals generate accurate laboratory data that is needed to aid in detecting cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, and leukemia, as well as the identification of bacteria and viruses that cause infections.
Nursing
We have been providing exceptional nursing education since 1889. Widely recognized for excellence in classroom and clinical settings, our program will prepare you for a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Through an affiliation with Alvernia University, University faculty teach select science courses and English composition at the School of Health Sciences. The partnership enables graduates to qualify for the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program.
Phlebotomy
In as little as eight weeks, you can earn your phlebotomy technician certificate and begin working in the medical field as a phlebotomist. Phlebotomists are in high demand with projected job growth of 25 percent from 2016-2026.
Surgical Technology
If you would like to be part of a surgical team, enroll in our Surgical Technology Program. Combining instructional lectures and clinical experience, the 20-month program will prepare you for the national certification examination and to assume an entry-level position as a surgical technologist. An affiliation agreement with Alvernia University allows students to simultaneously enroll in the University’s Associate of Science Degree Program.
