Apply to Nursing Program | Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences

How to Apply

Admission to the Nursing Program is highly competitive. We evaluate both minimum requirements and preferred criteria in admission decisions. Ideally, applicants will have taken college-level coursework to support their application or present a strong academic record as a high school student.

The Nursing Program admission requirements can be found in the Selective Admissions Policy [PDF].

Please note: SAT or ACT scores are no longer required for admission to the program.

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants must complete the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS). The TEAS evaluates basic essential skills in the following academic content areas: reading, mathematics, science, and English language usage. The School administers the latest version of the examination in a web-based format.

A formal interview may be required as part of the admission process. Interviews will be arranged for applicants who have met the minimum qualifications for admission. Additional information will be sent out at the time of the interview.

We encourage applicants to submit a one-page essay that speaks to the reasons why they want to become a nurse and the characteristics that they possess that would contribute to success in the program.

Application Deadline: As of June 1, we will be processing applications and support materials for the August 2024 admission class.

All applications must accompany required academic transcripts, references, and ATI TEAS scores to advance in the process. Incomplete application files may not be considered after the deadline. We strongly encourage applicants to complete their file well in advance of the deadline for timely review and screening of minimum requirements necessary for advancing in the process.
