Meetings & Support Groups
Studies have shown that bariatric surgery patients who regularly attend support meetings tend to have a better overall experience.
The Weight Management Center Support Group meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month in the Reading Hospital Conference Center inside the 5th Avenue Lobby entrance. We welcome all those who have had or are considering surgical weight loss.
Our meetings provide opportunities to socialize with other bariatric surgery patients and interested individuals. We also use the meetings to educate, share information, answer questions, and address concerns.
Second Helping Support Meeting
The Second Helping Support Meeting is an informal meeting to mix and mingle with other patients without the structure of the larger meeting, and a chance for former patients in need of additional support to revisit the group setting. This group meets the first Tuesday and third Wednesday of most months at 7 p.m. in the Weight Management Center waiting area. The Wednesday meeting is led by a licensed psychologist.
The Planning Committee is a group of patient volunteers that meets in the WMC conference room on the first Tuesday of most months at 6 p.m. to plan support group meetings and activities.
