Guidelines for Visitors

Reading Hospital

Many patients look forward to receiving visitors. We welcome you at our facilities from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Requests for visiting outside of these hours may be discussed with the clinical nurse. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

For everyone’s safety, all visitor’s must obtain a visitor badge from Guest Services in the 5th Avenue Lobby before proceeding to the patient unit.

To provide the best care specialty units have special visiting guidelines:

Beginnings Maternity Unit – R2E Open visitation 11a.m.-8 p.m.; one support person at 8 p.m.
Beginnings Maternity Unit – R1E Open visitation 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 3 p.m.- 8 p.m.
Emergency Department 2
Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units (MICU and SICU) 4 Open 24 hours for visits; children 12 and under are not permitted to visit
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Parent/guardian permission Required Open 24 hours for parents and grandparents. Children age 12 and older may visit. Open visitation 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pediatrics, C2S Parental/guardian permission required Parents or guardian – 24 hour rooming in as requested. Rooming in by non-parent is arranged by speaking with the nurse.
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Open 24 hours for visitation.
Limits directed by healthcare team.
Spruce Pavilion 12-1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.

Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing

Recommended visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. To avoid interruption of therapy sessions, visitors should call ahead to check the patient’s therapy schedule. Therapy times are available after 5 p.m. for the following day.
