Reading Hospital Foundation Receives $25,000 from Customers Bank
West Reading, Pa., August 26, 2020 - On Tuesday, August 25, Reading Hospital Foundation received a $25,000 donation from Customers Bank to aid in Reading Hospital's ongoing fight against COVID-19. The donation will support clinical research and personal protective equipment (PPE) for the safety of frontline staff.
Customers Bank offered a company match, up to $25,000, to match the generosity of community members and local business donations. Dick Ehst, President and COO of Customers Bank and Reading Hospital Foundation Board Member said, "The Customers Bank team was impressed by the dedication of Reading Hospital employees to keep the residents of our community healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak. We want the team to know they have the ongoing support of the community and their safety is important."
"Reading Hospital is fortunate that local businesses, such as Customers Bank, continue to support our team through generous donations to purchase additional PPE," said William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO. "COVID-19 remains in our communities and our team is dedicated to the health and safety of our patients and colleagues. To know the community is supporting us through these generous donations keeps our team motivated on the most difficult days."
Reading Hospital Foundation President, Katherine Thornton added, "To date, the Foundation has raised more than $120,000 to support Tower Health COVID-19 initiatives. We've provided funding to assist research related to treating patients with COVID-19 and the purchase of a THOR UVC disinfection robot for Reading Hospital. We have also purchased 14,000 Procedure Masks, 6,000 N95 Masks, 60,300 Latex Free Gloves, and 2,640 Liters of Hand Sanitizer to keep employees safe and healthy."
