Reading Hospital President and CEO donates to Employee Assistance Fund

Reading Hospital President and CEO William M. Jennings has personally donated $2,797.00 to the hospital’s employee assistance fund.

Jennings presented his check to Katherine Thomas, president of the Reading Hospital Foundation on Aug. 21.  The donation was the result of Jennings’ pledge to donate $1 to the fund for every run scored in the Reading Hospital Employee softball leagues’ 2019 season.

The popular league has more than 400 Reading Hospital employees involved and offers an opportunity for friendly competition between hospital departments.

The Employee Assistance Fund provides financial assistance to employees facing immediate, severe and temporary hardships due to an emergency.

“Every Reading Hospital employee serves as a healer for the patients and communities we care for,” Jennings said.  “Reading Hospital’s promise to the community is ‘Advancing Health. Transforming Lives.’ and that extends to our employees as well. The Employee Assistance Fund will help us demonstrate that promise to our colleagues when they need it most.”

Reading Hospital in West Reading is the flagship institution of the Tower Health Network and was established in 1926. The 714 bed hospital’s staff exceeds 970 physicians and health professionals.
