Reading Hospital Celebrates National Nutrition Month With 'Power Bowls'

March is National Nutrition Month and to celebrate the Reading Hospital Nutrition Services team will be offering "Power Bowls" as a special lunch option in the employee cafeteria on Thursday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fully customizable power bowl station will offer a wide variety of ingredient choices. The standard build of a power bowl starts with a base of leafy greens or grains, then adds a host of toppings, falling into the categories of vegetables, protein, complex carbs, sweet, crunch, and topping off with a flourish of herbs or a light dressing.

"Power bowls are a fun, tasty, and easy way to have a balanced meal with nutrient dense foods," says Jennifer Aletras, RD, LDN, Reading Hospital Nutrition Services. "Though you still need to be mindful of the ingredients you are choosing and your portion sizes, power bowls are a great place to start for people looking to make healthier meal choices."

Reading Hospital is committed to educating individuals about healthy food choices and making those choices accessible. This event will engage hospital employees and give them tools to start making positive dietary changes in all aspects of their life.
