Reading Health Receives Recognition For Partnership with National Disease Research Interchange

Reading Health System recently received a 2016 Outstanding Research Donation Partners Award from the National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI). The award was given at NDRI's annual Service to Science recognition awards dinner on November 18 in Philadelphia. Reading Health has partnered with NDRI for more than 10 years.

Steve Sowers and Andrea Blatt, employees in Reading Health's Pathology Department, accepted the award on the health system's behalf.

NDRI is the nation's leading source for human tissues, organs and cells for biomedical research. By serving as the liaison between donors and the research community, NDRI is uniquely positioned to support breakthrough advances and discoveries that can affect advances in the treatment and cure of human disease.

In giving the award, NDRI noted that the opening of the Reading HealthPlex for Advanced Surgical & Patient Care promises even greater opportunity to support this advanced research. Through strong, sustained partnerships with organizations such as Reading Health, NDRI is able to meet the needs of the biomedical research community.
