Reading Health Participates in National Bike to Work Week With Ride and Surprise Presentation

On Friday, May 20, bicycle riders from Berks County will meet to enjoy a scenic six mile bike ride in celebration of National Bike to Work Week. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. with riders departing from Reading Hospital Seventh Avenue garage at 7 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine. The ride is open to all individuals 18 and over. Riders must provide their own bicycle and helmet. The annual Bike to Work Week event is a joint effort of Commuter Services of Pennsylvania and Reading Health System.

Riders will leave Reading Hospital, ride through the tree-lined streets of West Reading and into the City of Reading via the Penn Street Bridge. They will pass historic City Hall and depart the city at Reading Area Community College riding the trail back to Reading Hospital.

At the conclusion of the ride a special surprise presentation will be made at 8 Wyomissing Police Department Chief Jeffrey Biehl. Two Trek Bikes will be donated from Reading Health, Penske Racing Shocks and private donors to Wyomissing Police Department.The additional bikes will be used by Wyomissing Police Officers that have completed the bike patrol training program.
