Community Health Needs Assessment

At Reading Hospital, we are constantly working to meet our motto of "Advancing Health. Transforming Lives." Our Community Health and Engagement department is focused on improving the health and wellness of Berks County residents of all ages by utilizing system resources and partnering with community organizations and businesses. It is our hope that our initiatives will empower people to manage their health and that it will inevitably transform lives.

Every three years, Reading Hospital, along with our community partners, conducts a community health needs assessment to help us identify key health issues and develop targeted and relevant programming.

Our 2016 recent needs assessment identified the following key health issues:

  • Obesity
  • Mental Health
  • Addiction
  • Access to Care

One underlying theme was also identified:

  • Lack of Cultural and Linguistic Competency

In the coming months, an implementation plan will be created. The purpose of this plan is to create a measurable strategic plan aimed at addressing the needs identified in the assessment. This plan will be completed in November 2016.
