General Surgery Residency
Welcome to the Reading Hospital Department of Surgery. Our team of greater than 150 providers, across twelve Divisions, is privileged to provide comprehensive surgical care to the population of Berks county and beyond. Reading Hospital has the busiest Emergency Department in the state of Pennsylvania. With the addition of five Montgomery, Chester, and Philadelphia community hospitals, 19 urgent care centers, and a clinically-integrated physician network of greater than 2000 physicians, Tower Health has cultivated a geographic catchment footprint extending from Philadelphia to mid-Pennsylvania. Reading Hospital is the flagship tertiary-care destination of Tower Health, making our hospital extraordinarily busy.
Reading Hospital is also currently transforming into a University-based Academic Medical Center. We are enthusiastic to be formally affiliated with Drexel University College of Medicine. As a four-year training site for Drexel medical students, RHTH has broken ground on a state-of-the-art facility to house the new medical school. This gives us the opportunity to train future physicians from the start of medical school through to independent practice and brings research and teaching opportunities for our more senior trainees and faculty as well.
No doubt these are exciting times for our institution, the community of West Reading, and the people who choose to come here to provide and receive healthcare. I am proud to lead this large department of professionals and our facility is the most surgically advanced hospital I have had the pleasure of working in. I look forward to ushering this department into a new era of academic accomplishment while maintaining our clinical excellence.
Thank you for your interest,
