Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship
The Reading Hospital’s fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is an ACGME-certified program that provides a strong training experience in clinical endocrinology and broad opportunities for research.
We received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in August 2019, and our inaugural class will begin in July, 2020.
Fellows will rotate through both in-patient and outpatient consultative services where they will gain clinical training in all areas of endocrinology. The fellowship program will allow fellows to learn how to treat and manage a full range of endocrine and metabolic disorders. Fellows will train on the most up-to date diabetes technologies including insulin pump management, continuous glucose monitoring, closed loop algorithms, and smart-pens. They will be trained and become skilled in thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules. Fellows will learn how to interpret endocrine imaging from bone densitometry to MIBG scans. The fellowship program involves a series of core curriculum lectures, regular journal clubs, endocrine board review sessions, tumor boards, cytology conferences, radiology conferences, patient care case presentations, as well as research conferences.
