Trauma & EMS Outreach
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) play a crucial role in your overall medical trauma experience. We build and maintain close relationships with the EMS, or pre-hospital, community and offer valuable continuing education for these life savers, including monthly trauma grand rounds, pre-hospital services grand rounds, and pre-hospital continuing education.
EMS Monthly Dinner & Learn Series
Presented the second Wednesday of every month, the EMS Dinner & Learn series is a popular evening of continuing education for EMS providers.
A different topic is highlighted every month, and EMS providers have the opportunity to interact with Reading Hospital clinicians, physicians, surgeons, and flight crew members through lecture and hands-on scenarios.
Held at the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, the event also offers EMS providers access to the paramedic school instructor staff and interactive training facilities.
Trauma Outreach Presentations
Our trauma surgeons offer education to our pre-hospital providers on various trauma-related topics, including traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and burns.
These presentations are often case-based, with the actual trauma survivors in attendance to share their stories along with the EMS ground and/or flight crews who treated the patient at the scene.
It's a great opportunity to learn first-hand from everyone involved in the patient's care, to meet the survivor and hear about his or her recovery, and have the survivor meet the medical professionals who treated them and helped saved his or her life.
